Metal detecting is a very popular and rapidly growing hobby. As we are located in New England we are privileged to see so many interesting items unearthed. From Pre-Colonial to Revolutionary War to Civil War to turn-of-the-century antiques are items we come across on a regular basis. Recently, a friend of mine came across a 1875 Twenty Cent 90% silver coin. The Twenty Cent silver coin was struck for only three years; 1875-1878. The coin failed because it was too close to the quarter, both in size and value. What makes this find so special is the Uncirculated condition of the Twenty Cent piece and it came out of the ground exactly as shown in these photos.
